About the Artist
Tuyo (b. 1989, Germany) is a self-taught painter and printmaker whose work carries a bold yet naïve aesthetic he describes as a blend of folk, pop, and cave art. With a focus on tactile textures and rough-hewn shapes, his visual language captures a timeless simplicity and human immediacy that resonates across mediums. Over the past decade, Tuyo has built a growing following for his distinct style and raw storytelling, marking him as an important new voice in contemporary painting and printmaking. The works shown below were created on occasion of his residency at The Holdout in October of 2025 in Portugal.
